Hi Highlands Ranch,
Memorial Day is Monday.
As we roll out this week’s summer celebration guide, it feels fitting to first pause to remember those who sacrificed for our country — here in the Ranch, across Colorado, and around the nation.
Also, don’t miss the latest Ranch People story that just dropped. Abby is incredibly inspirational with a heart as big as Texas. We added audio to this one too, so you can listen instead of read if you’re on the go.
On another note, has anyone else noticed gas prices lately?
That’s part of the reason this week’s summer unlock is focused on fun, free, and fulfilling ways to celebrate the season without spending a fortune.
This week’s unlock:
Guide: Free Days Guide Outside the Ranch — a curated guide to SCFD Free days for the summer
Guide: Outdoor Summer Movie Nights — options in the Ranch along with free ones a bit north
Plus this week’s 10 things:
🐐 Two family farm day options & musical brewery evenings
🎖️ Memorial Service early next week
✨ The Summer List — trying something new
Let’s do this thing.

South Denver Weekends
🌿Weekend Outing Ideas
Music Bingo Night — Living the Dream Brewery
🗓️ Thursday, May 21 (6:30 – 8:30 p.m.)
➜ View details
Free to play with multiple chances to win prizes throughout the night. Think traditional bingo—but with a musical twist. Each week features a different theme (this week is 60s, 70s, 80s music), making this an easy, low-key night out to test your music knowledge while hanging with friends.
Saturday Night Karaoke — Lansdowne Arms
🗓️ Saturday, May 23
➜ View details
Ready to test your vocals and let loose? Saturday night karaoke is happening with an easy, low-key night of singing, people-watching, and the occasional unexpectedly good performance. Welcoming community atmosphere who won’t judge too hard if your vocals don’t quite match Lady Gaga.
Family Fun Day — Backcountry Wilderness Area
🗓️ Saturday, May 23 (9 – 11 a.m.)
➜ View details
HRCA Backcountry quietly hosts some of the best family programming in the south metro, and these wholesome Saturday mornings feel very “Highlands Ranch.” Expect crafts, outdoor exploration, yard games, and even goat walks around Base Camp. Free with registration required per car.
Farm & Train Opening Weekend — Englewood
🗓️ Saturday, May 23 (9 a.m. – 3:30 p.m.)
➜ View details
We’ve had a surprising number of train-themed activities lately, so this one’s for the train lovers. About 15 minutes north of the Ranch, it’s opening weekend in Belleview Park with the longtime Farm & Train feature—train rides, farm animals, crafts, and another easy, old-school family outing for $3 per person.
Bat Emergence Walk — Littleton
🗓️ Saturday, May 23 (7:30 – 9 p.m.)
➜ View details
One of the more unique nighttime nature experiences happening nearby this weekend. Learn about Colorado’s native bat species before heading out at sunset to quietly watch bats emerge into the night sky for their evening hunt. A surprisingly cool outing for wildlife lovers, curious kids, and anyone who enjoys peaceful outdoor programming (15$-20$).
🌳Park of the Week
Civic Green Park 10/26
➜Details
Civic Green Park is one of the Ranch’s signature community spaces, combining playgrounds, fountains, picnic areas, open lawn space, and a large pavilion/stage area all in one spot. It’s an easy go-to for families, meetups, and casual afternoons for the kids to cool off around Highlands Ranch.
Just note: dogs aren’t allowed inside the main park area, and bikes/scooters must be walked once inside.
🌲26 Park Challenge: Visit all 26 parks with us over 26 weeks—join anytime. No particular order needed.
☁️🤔Park Giveaway: Guess the park correctly on Instagram, Facebook, or email for a chance to win a Colorado getaway.
🍽️Ranch Bite of the Week
The Egg — Highlands Ranch
➜ View details
We’ve mentioned this one before, but The Egg remains one of the more under-the-radar breakfast spots around the Ranch. A restaurant with virtually no internet presence, no trendy branding—just genuinely good comfort food, quality ingredients, and the definition of a classic local diner.
📰Early Next Week
Memorial Day Service — Civic Green Park
🗓️ Monday, May 25 (11:45 a.m.–12:30 p.m.)
➜ View details
The Highlands Ranch Metro District will host a Memorial Day Service at Civic Green Park honoring the men and women who gave their lives serving our country.
Guests are encouraged to arrive early to walk through the Highlands Ranch Veterans Monument before the ceremony begins.
🧭Testing Something New — The Summer List
Check out The Summer List—because honestly the internet probably doesn’t need another giant event calendar.
We’re experimenting with a more filtered, curated way to browse Ranch + nearby events by category—so you can quickly find things worth doing without scrolling through another calendar or 500 random listings.
Still very much a work in progress, but feel free to poke around and send feedback as we build it out 👀. Filter capabilities on desktop.
📬 Before You Go
Last night wasn’t the best for the Avs. My team—the Sabres—are already out, so Colorado’s officially adopted me for the playoffs.
Be sure to forward this to a friend in and around the Ranch who may find this useful.
Final Reminders:
☀️Summer Guides are out with more to come
🐴 Mini “brew crew” will be at Max Taps this Sunday if you missed them at Living the Dream last month
🔥Stage 1 fire +💧 Stage 1 drought restrictions in effect
If I missed something or you have a suggestion, just reply—I’d love to hear from you.
Enjoy the weekend!
