One underrated feature of living in Colorado? A surprising number of museums, gardens and cultural spots offer completely free admission days thanks to SCFD funding.

The Scientific & Cultural Facilities District (SCFD) helps support hundreds of arts, science and cultural organizations across the Denver metro area — making free admission days possible throughout the year.

We pulled together a few worth considering this summer if you’re looking to explore beyond your usual weekend rotation.

A few quick things to know before you go:

  • Some free days require advance reservations and can sell out quickly

  • Others are first-come, first-served

  • Some attractions still charge separately for special exhibits or add-ons

  • Checking each organization’s website ahead of time is always a good idea
