Hi Highlands Ranch,
The Ranch Scoop is not political. Relax. We just deliver local info, so you know what’s going on around you.
This ones for Highlands Ranch homeowners. In this post, we’ll explain:
What the delegate elections actually decide
Who can vote (and who can’t)
How to find where you vote
The Highlands Ranch Community Association (HRCA) is a core part of life in the Ranch. So, what does this association do? Essentially, the HRCA helps keep the Ranch running smoothly.
If you own in the Ranch, elections for HRCA delegates are open March 14 – April 16 (closes at 8 PM) for even-numbered and vacant districts.
Let’s keep it simple, so it does not get confusing.
Highlands Ranch is split into 95 delegate districts. Homeowners have a delegate who represents their area. But not every homeowner votes at the same time:
If you live in an even-numbered district → you may be able to vote
If you live in an odd-numbered district → you only vote if your district is vacant
If your odd district already has a delegate → you’re not voting this round
Here’s what to catch: You only actually vote if there are two or more people running in your district. A lot of districts only have one candidate—so no vote is needed.
First question: Do you know your district?
The Ranch has it mapped out using trash zones (yes, Highlands Ranch still has trash).
Your district falls into one of these 5 areas—check the Ranch map if you need a refresh on your specific district.
What does an HRCA delegate actually do? This person represents your neighborhood and votes on things like:
HRCA budget
community rules / bylaws
board leadership
Basically, this is a locally elected individual who supports homeowners in the community through the association—representing your district.
How to vote (quick version):
Confirm you’re a homeowner (this one is for fun)
Find your district
Check if it’s even or vacant
See if there are 2 or more candidates
If even + 2 or more candidates → you can vote
If odd + vacant + 2 or more candidates → you can vote
If there’s only one candidate → no vote needed
If odd + not vacant → sit this one out
Follow the process here and reach out to the HRCA if you have specific questions. 👉Details here
If you’re a new homeowner here, welcome—this is how things are run in the Ranch. If you’ve been here awhile and needed a refresh, there you have it.
Before you go, I send the scoop out every Thursday—join me here. For now, that’s the Ranch Scoop, ya’ll!
