Highlands Ranch,
With the recent grand opening of Egg Harbor Cafe, we visited it along with an established favorite.
These are two very different breakfast experiences in the Ranch.
The Egg: classic, local, genuinely great service
Egg Harbor Cafe: polished, elevated, newer brunch feel
Overall: depends what you’re in the mood for—both have a place
Let’s get into it.

The Ranch Take
Established—The Egg
The Egg is your classic diner—nothing flashy, no big online presence. They’re just really, really good at what they do.
The food? Honestly amazing. An all American breakfast with Latin-inspired salsa. The ingredients tasted fresh and well-prepared—it really came through in the overall quality of the food.
The service? The kind you notice immediately. Warm and hospitable.
Our waitress told us she’s been there for 2 years—and you can feel that. It’s attentive, genuine, and completely on point.
There’s even a handwritten whiteboard with menu updates. It’s simple, local, and kind of perfect.
This is one of those one of a kind places that doesn’t try to be trendy—it just quietly does everything right.
New in Town—Egg Harbor Cafe
Egg Harbor Cafe is clean, fresh, and definitely polished. It has that “new” feel—bright, organized, and clearly built to scale.
You can also feel a bit of the chain undertone. Multiple menus, a more structured flow, and an experience that feels more systemized than personal.
Service-wise, it seemed like our waitress was a little stretched. Not inattentive—just busy in a way that comes with a newer, high-traffic spot still finding its rhythm.
I tried the matcha bowl—it looked beautiful, but didn’t quite live up to how it was photographed. The fruit was fresh visually, though the flavor didn’t stand out as much as I expected.
They also offer alcoholic beverages, which adds to that more elevated brunch feel. Not necessarily my breakfast go-to, but I can see the appeal for some.
One small thing—during checkout, there was a prompt to complete a survey. It felt a bit forced in the moment which slightly took away from the overall experience.
To be honest, they both surprised me in different ways.
The polished, easy brunch spots, and the smaller places that don’t market themselves but quietly do everything right—Highlands Ranch has both.
And in the Ranch, there’s room for either depending on what you’re in the mood for. I’d go back to both.
Check them out for yourself—and don’t forget to support local small businesses when you can.
